Guest Access

The surrounding deck is exclusively for dome guests, and also includes a shared trail to the meadow. The road is a shared roadway for the Glassy Stays Dome and the Glassy Stays Mirror House, which is 300ft away from the dome. The transparent sections of the dome all face away from the private gravel road.

Good to know

The dome functions as a large 700-square-foot studio with the bed, desk, kitchen and living room all in the same space. Only the bathroom is separated by a door/wall. The Glassy Stays Mirror House and Glassy Stays Dome are on 20 acres of mostly forested land in Mars Hill. There is a long gravel and dirt road to get up to both properties. Don't forget to try renting both and see which unique stay you prefer! Luxury abounds here at Glassy Dome; we have a hot tub and cold plunge and for relaxation and healing (cold plunge is an up-charge, $50/stay). Should you want to use the cold plunge during your stay just message us after booking and we will send over a request for the payment through Airbnb.

Other Details to Note

Please take note of the following before booking: -While utterly amazing, the dome is essentially a glamping experience, or luxury camping, and may not be for everyone. - There is no insulation, and the connections between each of the panels have small gaps so you may see some bugs and dust during your stay. Those small gaps also have moss growing because of the large amounts of rain in this temperate rain forest. The dome is cleaned regularly, but is not always without rain spots. -If the sun is striking the dome directly, the dome can heat up quickly. We have significant HVAC and an automated ceiling curtain to help combat this, but during the hottest days of summer, we see temperatures in the dome in the 80s-low 90s for a few hours. This is temporary. As soon as the sun goes down behind the trees, it cools off quickly. -Be prepared to wear sunscreen in the heat of the day if you are prone to burning, or plan to be out on a hike or an excursion during that time. -The dome is entirely transparent (except for the bathroom, of course). The transparent portions face away from the private road and into the forest on the elevated side of the deck (16 ft in the air) so no one can look in unless they are walking out on the deck. -If you'd like to use the cold plunge during your stay, please message us before your stay and we will send over a request for payment ($50) through Airbnb and have it set-up and ready for your use when you arrive.

This was such a cool experience for us, and so relaxing with the sound and sight of rain and fall leaves! The space was so comfortable and clean, had everything we need, and the hot tub was top notch. Wish I could’ve stayed a month!! Ariel was also super helpful and communicative, and set up last minute massages at the house for us; which was amazing!!! Highly recommend for a different experience! Oh and I ordered uber eats with no issues !! Yay!

Really neat place to stay! The kids loved “camping” with the luxury of staying dry and warm. There were a few small hiccups but Ariel was helpful and responsive. Would definitely stay again.

Truly was blown away by the views and atmosphere of this dome! The sunrise every morning was breathtaking and absolutely peaceful. Our host made sure we felt at home and let us know they are there for any assistance. We will definitely book in the future - we truly loved staying in the dome we didn’t want to leave !! 🫶🏼

We had a fantastic time! The Dome is just as pictured! Beautifully decorated, great use of space and had so many special touches. It was extremely clean! I know this is a glamping experience but it felt like so much more. I really appreciated the attention to detail. The technology is incredible. The lights in the trees and around the Dome definitely added to the ambiance at night. The kitchen has everything you could want or need for your stay. The linens/ bedding are top notch. Ariel was very easy to communicate with and provided the most amazing house instructions. You never have to wonder how to work anything it's all laid out in detail....which I really appreciated! We definitely made some memories here and would highly recommend to couples or a small family. We traveled with our 11year old grandson and he was blown away at the experience. It's also very convenient to downtown Asheville. All in all 5 stars all the way!

The dome was amazing! It had everything we needed. Hot tub was a perfect end to each hiking day. Solo stove was perfect for a small fire. The neighbors dog barking ruined the peaceful night but nothing the host can do about that. This trip was perfect!

Everything about our stay was great, and we are looking forward to coming back again one day! It was a very relaxing stay. Thanks for your hospitality and creating such a unique spot! We talked and marveled a lot about what the effort it took to build something like the dome, the deck, and also to hang the string lights high in the trees. We appreciated all of the nice touches - the ceiling shade, the extensive lighting options, eye masks and ear plugs, extra hooks in the bathroom, plenty of space to stow things, lots of seating options (inside and out), the BBQ grill, hot tub, and more. You've thought of everything! Thanks again!
